

He is survived by His sons Aaron Skipwith and his wife Melissa Haggar Skipwith, Adam Skipwith, and Wesley Skipwith and his wife Mary (Abbie) Skipwith and their son Cole and daughter Mae. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Thomas and sisters-in-law Malaree Thompson and Catha Goss, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was born in Oklahoma City on March 18th, 1950. His childhood in North Richland Hills instilled a lifelong passion for basketball and was named 2nd Team All-District his senior year. He attended Schreiner College in Kerrville, then the University of Texas Austin receiving his undergraduate and Masters Degree in Civil Engineering. Walter and his former wife Marlyss first met in high school, and were together for more than 40 years, raising 3 boys together at their home on Avalon Ave in Lakewood. He was a beloved father, coach, uncle, mentor, and friend to many. He was fortunate to spend his entire professional career at Halff Associates, eventually becoming Chairman of the Board. He loved God and followed Him all his life. He was a 49-year member of Northwest Bible Church. He taught children’s Sunday school, was a small group leader, volunteered as a tutor at West Dallas Community School and at the refugee center in Victory Meadow in N.W. Dallas.
The memorial service will be held at Northwest Bible Church on Tuesday, April 8th at 1PM. All friends and family are welcome. The family asks that donations to Richardson Area Young Life be made instead of flowers or other gifts.
