

The family will receive friends at Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home in Dallas from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, August 17, with recitation of the Rosary at 7 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM, Wednesday, August 18 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9643 Ferndale Rd. Dallas 75218, with Rev. Josef Vollmer-Konig, Presider. A Commital service will be held at Calvary Hill Mausoleum in Dallas.
Walt was born to Joseph and Anna Wenning on January 28, 1919 in Coldwater, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Benetta Falsone Wenning. He is survived by his sons David and Chuck, Chuck’s wife Kim; grandchildren, Courtney Stice, Adrienne Wenning, Christopher Wenning, Derek Wenning, and Kyle Wenning; and great granddaughters, Sophie and Toby Stice. Walt is also survived by his brother Jim and his wife Juanita of Coldwater, Ohio and a number of nieces and nephews. Walt was a charter member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and was particularly active during its formative years. He was also a long time member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He graduated from International Business College, Fort Wayne, Indiana, and worked in Coldwater until enlisting in the Army in 1942. He served primarily in the Pacific until his discharge in January, 1946. He then worked for The Associates Company before joining North Dallas Bank. While with the bank he received his diploma in Commercial Banking from Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University. He was also active in the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce, serving as an officer and director for 10 years. He retired as a Senior Vice President of North Dallas Bank in 1986. Walt loved to play golf and was a member of Lakewood Country Club for 25 years. He loved his family, his faith, and all of his many friends.
