Wanda Lou Franklin Moss entered into eternity in the early morning of September 26, 2016. She was reunited in heaven with her grandparents, and beloved brother, Cecil B. Franklin. Wanda Lou Franklin was born on May 9, 1939, in Rusk, Texas, the oldest child of Willie Mae Barnes and Shelly Franklin. She was a bright and curious child and graduated with honors from Lincoln High School in Dallas, Texas. As a Chemistry Major at Prairie View A&M University, she was courted by and married her hometown sweetheart, Howard Ray Carter. Their union was blessed by three children: two daughters, Dana Lorraine and Renee Lorraine, and a wonderful son, Howard Earl. She had a brief marriage to Jeffrey Moss. Wanda was a spiritual and passionate person, and after exploring several faith traditions including Buddhism, she was eventually convinced of the truth of the Almighty Word of God, our Lord Jesus Christ. She was active in several churches throughout her life, participating as a teacher in Sunday school and enjoyed participating in church and community choirs. She is survived by her mother, Willie Mae Franklin Barnes; her aunt, Peggy Mae Barnes Clark; her brother, Edwin Williams, Jr.; her daughter, Dana Carter Henderson and husband, Miles A. Henderson, and their children: Jacob, Lance and his wife, Sarah, Diana and her husband, Geoffrey Hinkle, and daughter, Tina; her daughter, Renee, and her children: Athena, Christina and Patreecia Hubbard, and son, Justin Polk Carter; her son, Howard Earl Carter and his lovely wife, Shirley, and their children: Howard Carter, Jr., Janice K. Carter, Rick Griffin and Sharvetta Harris; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Wanda will be sorely missed by her children, who appreciated her sacrifice and love, and her lessons in compassion, civic responsibility and emphasis on creativity. Mama, we love you!
