

Will Serignet of Richardson, Texas passed away in his home on February 20th from natural causes. He was ninety-seven years old and was preceded in death by his wife of many years, Josephine. He is survived by his children Tony Serignet and Mary Serignet Lucas, grandchildren, Anthony Serignet, and Austin Taylor Lucas. In addition to his immediate family, he was close to his many nephews and nieces.
Will was born in the small town Point la Hatch, Louisiana. He served his country in World War II where he became a verified war hero winning the Silver Star.
“The Silver Star is the third-highest award for valor in combat presented by the United States to members of the U.S. military. The award is given for gallantry in action against an enemy of the United States, action while serving in military operations involving conflict with a foreign foe or action while serving with allied forces in armed combat against an opposing force where the United States in not the aggressor.”
Will was in the front lines where he was an interpreter speaking French. While serving he was awarded the honors of multiple medals and awards including, Bronze Star Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Ribbon, Europe African Middle East Ribbon with two Silver Stars, Silver Star Button, and Silver Star Patch. He was also awarded with Army President Unit Citation, Army Combat Infantry Badge, American Defense Ribbon, Nation Defense Medal, Bronze Star, Bronze Star Button, and a 4th Infantry Patch.
After the war, he joined the United States Postal Service and remained employed there until he retired. He enjoyed photography and was an avid sports fan. Will loved the Texas Rangers.
Will was an avid golfer and had a natural talent for it. He would play for hamburgers against his nephews. He never lost! A gentleman and kind soul, he will be remembered as a good man, devoted catholic, and family man.
