Willia Mae Woods Taylor was born on August 10, 1923 in Clarksville, Texas, to the parentage of Scott and Addie Woods. She attended Clarksville I.S.D. public schools and later moved to Childress, Texas. She was added to the Lord’s church at an early age and was a faithful member of Singing Hills Church of Christ, until her health began to fail.
Willia Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Johnny; and, her brothers, Raymond, Curtis, Carl, James and Cledell.
Willia Mae lived a blessed life of devotion to her children and family, to her home, and to ultimately making Heaven her home. She would very often be found reading her Bible and would eagerly engage in discussions about God’s word, not wanting anyone to be eternally lost. Willia Mae was a woman of incredible strength and abiding love, which was experienced by many whose paths were blessed enough to cross hers. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, watching sports and spending time with her family.
Willia Mae was the matriarch and steadfast rock of her family; she leaves many beautiful memories and an enduring legacy of love, prayers, teachings, strength and courage to sustain her children and the generations that follow.
Willia Mae peacefully entered into eternal rest on the evening of December 12, 2016. She leaves to cherish her loving memory four sons: Frank, Norvil, Norman and Ostell, all of Dallas, TX; a very special son-in-law, Jimmy of DeSoto, TX; seven daughters: Rosemary of Dallas, TX, Maggie of DeSoto, TX, Jewel (Jimmy) of DeSoto, TX, Martha (Johnny) of Mansfield, TX, Olivia of Garland, TX, Pearlie of Clarksville, TX, and Shirley of Childress, TX; three sisters: Rosie Earl of Clarksville, TX, Velma Griffin of McKinney, TX, and Willie Jean Moore and brother-in-law, William Moore of Clarksville, TX; an adopted daughter Ola (Larry) of DeSoto, TX; and, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
