Willie Clinton Jackson was born May 11, 1934, in Arcadia, Louisiana, to Samuel Leonard and Willie Mary (Russell) Jackson and was the oldest of their four sons. His parents and three brothers (Samuel, Eddie Autry, and Willie Price) preceded him in death. One son, Gerry Jackson, also preceded him in death. To those in Arcadia, he was “Bo” and to his friends in Dallas, where he made his home, he was “Dub” and to others, he was “W.C.” He considered no one a stranger.
During his childhood, Jackson was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. After graduating from Crawford High School in Arcadia, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy. Following an honorable discharge from the Navy, Jackson developed extraordinary skills and a respected reputation as a cement mason and construction foreman. His vocation and contributions spanned over four decades and included many major infrastructure projects and commercial developments. Jackson’s work ranged from state and interstate highways to large-scale office buildings and hotel properties, primarily throughout the Dallas area, but in other parts of Texas and other states as well.
After his retirement in 1999, Jackson spent most of his time fishing and hunting, which were two of his favorite hobbies. He had an incredible love for the outdoors and nature. He also enjoyed watching sports and was a major fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers.
Jackson departed this life on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 89 years old. He is survived by his only daughter, Cynthia Jackson (Keith) Simmons of Pearland, TX; two sons, Vincent (Lisa) Jackson of Hadley, MA, and Willie Jackson, Jr. of Farmerville, LA; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was “Papa Bo” to eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
