Yang Cha Moore was born on February 25, 1949 in South Korea. She passed away peacefully June 27, 2024 in Cedar Park, Texas with family at her side. Yang epitomized resiliency and was a sweet, devoted, and loving person that took great joy in giving to and supporting her community.
Yang studied classical music at Seo Ra Bul Art College in Seoul, South Korea, and while working at Osan Air Base she met John Wallace Moore. The two were married in Reno, NV in 1975 after moving from Korea to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, where John was Assistant Professor of Aeronautics. Their first child, Tabitha, was born at the Academy in 1976, and after moving to Fort Stewart, their second child, Estella was born in 1981. After John retired from the Air Force, the family moved to Lubbock, Texas where Yang worked as a secretary at Texas Tech University to pay for law school for John. The family moved to Dallas, TX where Yang had a long career as a bank loan officer.
Yang’s love poured out in the acts of service that she did. She volunteered as a school teacher’s aide at St. Patrick’s Catholic School, with the Red Cross, and as a Girl Scout leader. She was an amazing cook, and had many nights staying up cooking for teachers, schoolmates, and church friends at St. Patrick’s. Everyone looked forward to her rum cake every year and her famous carrot cake is still requested by her grandkids for their birthday celebrations. She spent many hours sewing sequins one by one onto figure skating competition dresses for her daughters and sewing Guess patches onto “regular” jeans to make them “designer” ones - all to bring joy to those that she loved. She volunteered at St. Patrick's for a weekly adoration, and touched many families through her angelic voice as a member of the St. Patrick's choir.
When Yang’s soulmate passed in 2005, she turned her nurturing to support young adults in need at GA meetings and volunteered for women’s prison ministries near Huntsville, Texas. She also served the Catholic community through Adoration, Community, Theology and Service (ACTS) retreats.
Yang’s willingness and energy came out in everything that she did - from half marathons to family hikes in Texas, Utah, Colorado and Wyoming to leading the charge at Silver Sneakers classes.
But Yang was not all serious and hard work - she knew how to have some good fun and was known for her humor and smile.
Yang was beloved and adored by everyone that met her and is the sweet energetic positive spirit that we can all hope to have in times of need. Yang is survived by her daughters, Tabitha and Estella, six grandkids, and her brother. A viewing and reception will be held Sunday, July 7th 6-8 pm at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home, 10501 Garland Rd, Dallas, TX. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 8th at 9:30-10:30 am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 9643 Ferndale Rd, Dallas, TX with a reception to follow in the auditorium. A committal service will be held after the reception at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway at 2:30 pm.
