She was raised with five siblings. At the age of three her family moved to Chicago, IL. Her family later moved to Dallas, TX ,where she met and married Martin Guajardo.
Yolanda and Martin had three children. Yolanda, Jr. married Robert D. Diaz in 1978, Martin Jr. married Patricia Avila in 1998 and Mario married Robyn Ramsey in 1992.
They have six grandchildren. Deanna/Joe True, Andrew Diaz /Ingrid Rodriguez, Monica and Allison Guajardo, Jake and Kate Guajardo.
There are also four great-grandchildren and one on the way; Joseph and Grace True and Gregory, Amelia and Baby Diaz.
Yolanda was appreciative of the family she and Martin created.
Yolanda was a member of The Guadalupana Association, a Catholic Women’s Organization. She received the Guadalupana of the Year Award in 1994 and her 25 Years of Service Award in 2009.
Yolanda was kind and soft spoken. She never had a harsh word to say about anyone. She welcomed everyone into her home and was a wonderful cook. You were lucky to get a fresh tortilla hot off the comal. She is survived by her brother, Federico Martinez, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that love her.
Yolanda will truly be missed.
