

Zoila Margarita (Margot) Quintero Gutierrez was born in Sagua la Grande, province of Las Villas in Cuba on July 10 1918. She was the first daughter of a young couple, Nicolas and Zoila. Margot grew to be a dutiful daughter and caring sister to the younger Violeta. Margot, as she was always called, completed her college studies in Havana‘s Escuela Normal de Kindergarten. In 1942 she married her finacee of eight years Edin Gutierrez and had a daughter, Martha Elena, in 1943 and a second daughter, Margarita, in 1945. Margot obtained a position of Kindergarten teacher and taught kindergarten in Havana until 1962, when she left in exile to the United States after the Castro regime had taken political power in Cuba. Margot worked in the optical industry in Dallas, Texas until retirement from Searle Optical in 1983.
Margot was a loving and dedicated care giver to family and friends. Margot cared for her husband, parents and sister until the last days of their lives. She was very dedicated to her grandchildren and helped raise them from a very young age.
Margot is survived by her daughter Martha Elena Gutierrez Balboa and husband Roberto, daughter Margarita Gutierrez Bach and husband Gabriel, grandson Eldric Bach, granddaughter Natania Bach LeClerc and husband Jeffrey, nephew Antonio Cabrera and wife Barbara, and nephew Mario Cabrera.
