Alma Tranquilli Pegoli, of Danbury, CT, went to her eternal rest on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at the age of 88. Alma was born on October 12, 1935, in Senigallia, Italy. After coming to the United States in 1954, she married Walter Pegoli in 1957; they were married for over 66 years.
Alma is predeceased by her parents, Sante and Ersilia Tranquilli, and by her siblings Ennio (and Natalina) Tranquilli, Maria (and Emilio) Cingolani, Laura (and Armando) Manoni, and Adele (and Ennio) Fornaroli. She is survived by her husband Walter, her sister Lidia (and Elio – deceased) Manoni, her son Walter (and Abby) Pegoli, her daughter Nancy (and Tom) Nunan, and by her grandchildren Christopher Pegoli, Nicholas (and Megan) Pegoli, Tom Nunan, and Alexandra Nunan, and by many nieces and nephews in Italy and in the US.
As a devoted wife and mother, family meant everything to Alma. Her family in Italy, her family in the U.S., and most especially her children and grandchildren were the love of her life. She cherished the moments when she visited family – far and near – and when family came to visit her, especially at her home on Marbil Road. Alma was also a faithful communicant at St. Edward the Confessor Church, where she and Walter were founding members of the parish.
Alma worked a variety of different jobs during her lifetime, from the bridal shop to the school cafeteria, and she spent many years at Barden Corporation. Known for her passion for cooking as well her compassion for friends and neighbors, Alma would give anything to a person in need. Alma passed at her daughter’s home in Peabody, MA, which was her wish, and she now makes her journey from earth to heaven, from Walter’s arms to God’s arms.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Wednesday, February 7, at 11:00 AM at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 21 Brush Hill Road, New Fairfield, CT. Burial will take place at St. Peter Cemetery, 71 Lake Avenue Ext., Danbury, CT. Visitation immediately precedes the Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, CT.
