Antonio was born March 4, 1934, in Porto, Portugal, the son of the late Antonio and Emilia (Ferreira) Lourenco. He immigrated to the United States in 1948 at the age of 14 and became an American citizen in 1956.
Antonio married the love of his life, Olga Braz, in Gouveia, Portugal in 1963. Shortly after getting married, they came to the United States where they welcomed two daughters and two sons.
Antonio owned and operated his beauty parlor, Antony of Wilton, CT for over 40 years. He later worked as a real estate agent for many years.
Antonio's hobbies included soccer; he was an avid Porto and Pele fan. He also enjoyed golf, playing cards, checkers, pool, horseshoes, and ballroom dancing. He showed his sense of humor by telling many stories and playing jokes. He was a founding member of the Sons of Portugal (now the Portuguese Cultural Center). Often, you could find him there enjoying a café and a game of cards.
VôVô could always be found loudly and passionately supporting his grandkids at various sporting events. He was able to attend high school and college graduations and even two weddings! We're grateful for the memories that we created that will last a lifetime.
In addition to his wife Olga of 61 years, Antonio is survived by his four children, Emily (James) Steinhardt, Antonio Lourenco Jr, Eduardo Lourenco, and Grace (David) Tomas. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; Lauren (Lorenzo) Stellato, Justin Lourenco, Jameson Steinhardt, Kelly Lourenco, Rachel Steinhardt, Devon Tomas, Benjamin Tomas, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his four brothers and two sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Antonio will be held at St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Rd, Danbury, CT 06811, on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Following the Mass of Christian Burial, there will be a committal service at St. Peter Cemetery, 71 Lake Ave Ext, Danbury, CT 06810.
