Barbara Julia Varian

Barbara was born in Bronx, NY on January 24, 1934, daughter of the late George L. and Barbara (Walther) Reiss of Danbury. She attended schools in New York City before moving to Danbury with her parents. Barbara worked for Singer Sewing in New York City before moving to Danbury and then worked for Bard Parker, the Danbury School system in the Danbury High School cafeteria and then managed the family business until retiring and moving with her husband to Ocala, Fla, Williamston, S.C. and Auburn, GA. She was a past member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danbury. Barbara enjoyed spending every moment she had with her 5 grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Francis (Skip)R. Varian Sr., daughter Barbara L. Manna and husband John of Lawrenceville, Ga., 2 sons, Francis R. Varian Jr. and wife Cheryl of Bethel, Keith C. Varian and wife Sharon of Danbury; sister, Ellen Blom and husband Andrew , 2 brothers, George Reiss and wife Barbara and William Reiss and wife Pat, all from Danbury and sister-in-law Veronica Varian of The Villages, Fla. ,5 grandchildren, Jenilee Valencia and husband Ricardo, Shana Varian, Kathryn Manna, Daniel Manna and Cassandra Varian and 2 great grandchildren Adison and Cali Valencia and also many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury on Tuesday November 26 at 12:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home on Tuesday morning from 11:00am to 12:00. Interment will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
