

Carmela “Millie” Saggese Cassano, age 79, passed away on Sunday July 17, 2011 at Danbury Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Millie was a leap year baby born on February 29, 1932 in New York to Ernesto and Theresa Saggese. She grew up in Brooklyn, New York. Millie married Anthony Cassano on November 14, 1953 and they lived in Syosset, Long Island until relocating to Danbury in 1964.
Millie worked at several local companies including the Siegel Agency, Ethan Allen, Norco and Union Carbide/Praxair where she retired from in 1991. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Danbury for 47 years. She also was a regular member of a senior bowling league and was an avid bridge player. She touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Millie is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Anthony; her 3 children Donna Kakadeles of Newtown, Paula Hart of New Fairfield and Mark Cassano of Calgary, Canada; her grandchildren Jenna and Kaitlyn Kakadeles and Sean, Kelly and Theresa Hart; her brother and wife John and Maryann Saggese of New York; her nephews and niece Ernest and John Saggese and Dina Molinaro, husband Rob and children Anthony and Sophia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, Danbury, on Thursday morning at 10:00. Calling hours will be Wednesday July 20th from 4 to 8 at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury
