

Charles attended St. Basil Catholic School in South Haven, MI, and went on to graduate from South Haven High School in 1962. He continued his education until he took a leave of absence to help care for the family after his father passed. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Lewis University and an MBA from Notre Dame. Charles became an executive with Union Carbide, traveling the world to manage the sales of specialty products in China, Japan, and other parts of Asia. Upon returning to the United States, Charles and family settled in New Fairfield, CT, and he continued to live there after his retirement in 2000. Charles was a kind and gentle man who loved to laugh, spend time with family, and play card games. He will be sorely missed and never forgotten.
Charles is predeceased by his first wife Emily, parents Helen and Anible, brother Tom, and favorite Aunt and Uncle Katie and Jim. He was blessed by being dearly loved by his wife Danette Onofrio as well by his children: son Robert Onofrio and soon to be wife Kathryn Penney of Cambridge, MA; son Ryan Onofrio of New Fairfield, CT; step-daughter Lisa Suffern of NYC; step-daughter Michele and her husband Scott Montanye, and grandchildren Cara and Gavin of Pine Bush, NY. He is also survived by siblings Rosemarie and her husband Thomas Costello, Mary Onofrio, Dan and his wife Nancy Grabovac, Ron and his wife Janie Grabovac, and Dennis and his wife Joyce Grabovac, all of MI.
Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 at 11am at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury with the Rev. Samuel Scott, Pastor of St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery, New Fairfield, CT.
Friends will be received on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 from 9am-11am at the funeral home.
