Cora was born on June 4, 1936, in Danbury, CT to Charles and Edith Abbott. Her joyful childhood was spent on Westville Avenue where she enjoyed playing with her sister, Charlene, and the neighborhood children. From sleigh riding to bike riding to ice skating, she always shared good memories of her childhood. Cora also had very fond memories of her family, from their farm of chickens, rabbits, pigs and her cow, Molly, to her mother’s beautiful flower gardens, raising parakeets, her delicious baked goods and her father’s fish market, Abbott’s Seafood. She often spoke of how much she loved walking there after school to help her dad and talk with customers. She had great memories of the time she spent with him driving to Norwalk to pick up fresh fish for the market and the delicious seafood dinners they enjoyed as a family.
Cora’s early education was spent at Danbury schools. She was a cheerleader at Morris Street School and always bragged about what a good student she was! Upon completing her schooling, Cora worked at The Colin Campbell Company where she met life-long friends that eventually became her neighbors. She had fond memories of her “work family” and spoke of them with love. After her daughters were grown, she was a dedicated employee at Harbor Electronics where she was proud of her role as a Supervisor of Quality Control. She retired at the age of 78 from Paper Machine Components after almost 30 years of employment.
Cora married Robert Muehlfeld, also of Danbury, on July 25, 1954. They were given a parcel of land near the Muehlfeld family home, and, with the help of family and friends, Robert built their first home.
In 1956 Cora and Robert bought their current home where they have resided for 69 years. Cora loved her home, from cooking to cleaning to tending her flower gardens. She took great pride in her home, but it was her family that she cherished the most. Cora was a stay-at-home mom until her daughters were in junior high school. She was a devoted mother and wife always putting the needs of her family above everything. She was nurturing and loving and always found the best in everyone and everything around her. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for her daughters; she volunteered at school events and class field trips and never missed a chance to attend her daughters' sporting events. She was their #1 fan! As her girls grew older her relationship with them also grew into a loving friendship that included fun-filled family vacations, outdoor adventures, and countless shopping trips!
She adored her grandchildren, doting on them and always proud of their accomplishments with careers, school, and families. She loved attending their soccer, baseball, and football games. Her distinct cheers from the sidelines could be heard for miles! She was the fun, silly, quick-witted grandmother, always laughing and joking. Her love spread well beyond her family, she was always happy to see friends and meet new people, everyone felt loved when grandma was around!
Cora is survived by her husband Robert and their daughters Debbie Montoya and Doreen Robbins, her grandchildren Tommy and Jessica Robbins, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Edith and Charles Abbott and her sister Charlene Scribner.

I said a prayer for you today and know God must have heard.
I felt the answer in my heart although He spoke no word.
I didn’t ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn’t mind,
I asked Him to send treasures of a far more lasting kind.
I asked that He’d be near you at the start of each new day,
to grant you peace and blessings and friends to share your way.
For you I asked for love and happiness in all things great and small.
But it was for His loving care I prayed for most of all.
