Daniel was born in Danbury, CT on March 5, 1949, son of the late councilman John J. Esposito Sr. and Geneva Green. He attended Danbury Schools growing up, first attending St. Peter's School and then graduating from Danbury High School in 1968. After graduation he went to trade school at Henry Abbott Technical School.
Although retired at the time of his passing, he was a member of UA Local 777 Plumbers and Pipefitters and worked with the union for many years. He was however, best known as “Dan the Tree Man” in the Greater Danbury community, having a tree removal business locally where he worked side by side with his son Jeff and close family friend Marc DeBenigno.
Daniel was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He loved connecting with old friends at his class reunions, playing his numbers, and rooting for his favorite team, UConn Women’s Huskies. Most of all, he loved spending time with his dogs Annie and Jake who kept him busy and comforted in his retirement.
Daniel is predeceased by his wife of over 40 years, Lillian Esposito, as well as his nephews Jesse Esposito, Mark Esposito, and Anthony Esposito.
He is survived by his two children Jeffrey Esposito of Danbury and Laura (Steve) Bumbala of Minneapolis, MN, and his beloved grandchildren Steven and Aiden. He is also survived by his siblings Michael (Susan) Esposito of Danbury, Nancy (John) Mietelski of New Milford, Diane Felicissimo (Bob Moceri) of Southbury, Deborah (Tim) Fast of Appleton, WI, and John (Lisa) Esposito II of New Milford, along with numerous cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Daniel will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He will always be remembered as the life of the party, spreading laughter and kindness wherever he went; a true friend to all. Our lives are infinitely better for having him in it.
The family will receive friends at a memorial visitation to take place on Sunday May 19, 2024 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
