Diane E. Thorpe

Diane Ellen Thorpe, age 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on March 9, 2017, in Westerly, Rhode Island. Born in Danbury, CT to the late William Morrissey & Ethel Farrell Morrissey, on October 5, 1936. Diane attended school in Danbury, CT. She worked for many years being a Home Health Aide. She loved people and she loved helping people. She also loved to play Scrabble and work on puzzles with her husband. Her true passion was her family.

She was a loving, devoted wife for over 56 years and is survived by her sweetheart Ralph and their five amazing children, Tom Plummer (CT), Maureen (Craig) Lehmann (FL), Jim Thorpe (NJ), John (Lisa) Thorpe (NC) and Sue (Walter) DeJulia (CT). She was the family's rock. She is also survived by her grandchildren, John, Laura (Ki), Thomas (Colleen), Kyle (Katie), Heather (Matt), Logan, Stefan, Jack, Taylor, Tori and Farrell, and her great grandchildren Caleb and Dakota. You could always count on Grandma to be there for any sporting event or anything else her children/grandchildren were involved in. Although she lived a distance from her children, she made a special effort to be there for any special moment in their lives. She was a fun-loving, kind-hearted, generous and beautiful person to everyone. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Richard, William, Ernie, Gary and her great grandson, Mason.

Calling hours are 4-7 pm Monday, March 13th at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT. Funeral services will be held in Westerly, RI. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to SUDC, at www.sudc.org/mason in honor of her great grandson, Mason, or to Hospice at www.beaconhospice.com
