
Dorothy M. Barrett, age 98 of Danbury died on Tuesday at Glen Hill Care and Rehabilitation, Danbury. Dorothy was born April 3, 1914, the daughter of the late James and Winifred (Kenney) Barrett. A lifelong Danbury resident, she attended local schools and was employed as an occupational therapist for the State of Connecticut at the Fairfield Hills Hospital, retiring after 25 years of service.
Dorothy was the matriarch of the family, always looking after her brothers and sisters. She was a devoted and active parishioner of St. Peter Church, Danbury, and enjoyed sports, traveling to Europe and the Caribbean, as well as casino gambling.
Dorothy is survived by her sister, Etta C. Pallo of Danbury, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her fourteen brothers and sisters. Dorothy’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Glen Hill for the excellent and compassionate care provided to Dorothy over the last six years. There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30am on Friday June 29th at St. Peter Church, Danbury. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are requested to be made to Sol Amor Hospice, 4 Oxford Road Suite E-4, Milford, CT 06460. The Green Funeral Home 57 Main Street Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
