Dorothy Hallabeck Creter passed away peacefully on January 10, 2023 at the age of 101. Dorothy was born in Danbury, Connecticut on January 8, 1922, the daughter of the late Andrew and Susanna (Hopko) Hallabeck.
Dorothy spent most of her life in Danbury where she graduated from Danbury High School. She worked at various jobs until her marriage to the late Robert C. Creter in February 1946. She was then a fulltime homemaker.
Dorothy volunteered at Danbury Hospital Gift Shop and was an active volunteer there for 42 years. She was also very involved in the local chapter of AARP, serving as President for 2 terms.
Dorothy had a passion for golf and could be found at Richter Golf Course until well into her 80’s and when she wasn’t playing, she was watching golf on television. Dorothy also loved to travel and was proud of the fact that she traveled across the country in a trailer. In her later years, Dorothy spent many hours creating beautiful needlepoint works.
Dorothy was a faithful member of Christ the King Church in Ridgefield, CT and was active in the Church since its inception.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert C. Creter, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Kathy and Gregory Hatch, Robert and Susan Creter, and John and Mady Creter. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received from 10:00am to 11:00am on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Green Funeral Home with a prayer service beginning at 11:00am. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
