He was born on November 1,1948 in Ninh Binh, Vietnam and the second oldest child of Joseph and Mary Nguyen. He is survived by his wife, Lan, his two children: Thanh Shorter (Simon), John Nguyen (Emily), six grandchildren: Zoe, Nathan, Jack, Sophie, Dean, and Audrey, and his four siblings: Truc Huynh (Vang) of Naples FL, Quy Vu (Cuong) of Seal Beach, CA, Bach Huong of Campbell, CA, and Dy Nguyen (Hanh) of Piscataway, NJ.
He is predeceased by his son, Duy Nguyen, sister Kim-Cuc Tran, and parents (Joseph and Mary Nguyen).
Du was a member of the South Vietnamese Navy with the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. At the conclusion of the Vietnam War, his family immigrated to America and settled in Danbury, CT in 1975.
He graduated from Polytechnic Institute of New York receiving his Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. Du was a semi-conductor engineer at IBM where he held patents in circuit designs and co-authored a book about engineering.
His interests were: golf, guitar, and traveling with his wife to spend time with his family and friends from all over the world.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Thursday, December 28th at St. Gregory the Great Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive family and friends at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury on Wednesday, December 27th between the hours of 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
