Edward Martin Laskowski, Jr., 76, of Danbury, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026. Born on July 25, 1949, in Danbury, he was the son of Edward Martin Laskowski, Sr., and Marie Causa, and proudly followed in his father’s footsteps, both in name and trade.
Ed dedicated 43 years to his role as a machinist at Branson Ultrasonics, where his strong work ethic, precision, and reliability defined his career. He was consistent and steady, and this steadiness shaped not only his work, but his entire life. He took pride in his craft and in carrying on his father’s legacy, showing up every day with the same dependability and quiet strength that defined him as a father, partner, grandfather, and friend.
He made his home in Danbury with the love of his life, Kathy Cannavaro. Together they shared many joys including top-down rides in his convertible throughout Connecticut, and their cherished annual vacations to Virginia Beach. Ed loved cars and motorcycles—working on them, attending car shows, and watching shows about them, and served as a mechanic during his time in the Marines. Whether restoring his ‘55 Chevy, rebuilding his chopper, or meticulously maintaining the Ford Explorer, he was always creating, fixing, and building. He was a true maker at heart.
Ed was always up for a movie and loved bringing his sons, Andrew and Matthew, along, creating family memories that would last a lifetime. Above all, he treasured time with his grandchildren. He was always thinking of them, prioritizing time together, and finding joy in building and creating alongside them, from Magna-Tiles to Legos to his own unique creations, there was no limit to the fun they shared.
Ed is survived by his sons, Andrew and his wife, Sarah, and their daughters Zoe and Madeleine; and Matthew and his wife, Arielle, and their children Marlow and Isla. He also lovingly embraced Kathy’s children Rick and his wife, Kerri, and their daughters Kaitlin and Brooke; Ted and his wife, Sarah, and their daughters Gia and Rowan; and Katie and her husband, Chris, and their children Arianna and Dominic. Together, this beautiful and growing family was the center of his world.
As we honor Ed’s life, we remember him for his kindness and the quiet strength with which he lived each day. That same quiet strength carried him through his courageous battle with cancer, which he faced as he faced everything in life: with steadiness, determination, positivity, and without complaint. May we carry forward his example, showing up for one another with consistency, resilience, and love, and live with the steadiness and kindness he gave so freely.
