

Born on April 9, 1923 in Danbury, CT, he was a son of the late Elroy Hunter and Alice Brundage Hill. Fran attended Danbury Schools and was a 1942 graduate of Danbury High School. He then joined the US Navy and served as a Naval Engineer.
Fran married the former Thelma Deitz in 1948 at Sacred Heart Church in Danbury. They resided for many years at 85 Franklin Street in Danbury; they moved to New Milford in 1962. His wife of 66 years, Thelma, passed away in 2014.
A longtime employee with Eaton Consolidated Controls in Bethel for over 25 years, he retired in 1988.
An active member of Sacred Heart Church in Danbury, Fran was a member of the choir there. He became entranced with the wilderness life and was a lifelong hunter and fisherman. An avid painter, some of his most beautiful works were of nature scenes. He was a member of American Legion Post #200.
Survivors include his Godsons: Arthur Guertin and his wife, Mei, of New Milford, CT; and Donald Deitz and his wife, Rin, of New Preston, CT. Also his cousins: Robert Meuhlfeld and Sandra Berry. Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church, 12 Cottage St., Danbury, CT. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Friends will be received from 4pm-6pm on Friday, Nov. 25, 2016 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT.
