
George was born in Danbury, a son of the late John F. and Annie Robinson Lynch. He attended Danbury Schools and was a 1943 graduate of Danbury High School.
A veteran of WWII, George enlisted in the US Navy in June of 1943. He served on the USS Arkansas in the South Pacific-Asian, European, Atlantic, African and Middle Eastern theatres of World War II. He was the recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal and Victory Medal. He was discharged in 1946.
A lifelong Danbury resident, George was a longtime employee of the Barden Corporation, retiring in 1992 after 41 years of service. He was a member and usher at St. Gregory the Great Church in Danbury as well as a member of the Catholic War Veterans Post #1042.
George enjoyed car shows and showing his 1967 Chevy Nova at Duchess on White St. in Danbury and at the Sycamore in Bethel. He was an avid Yankees fan, enjoyed gardening and family get-togethers.
George was predeceased by his brother, John J. Lynch, and a sister: Dorothy Lynch.
Besides his wife, George is survived by his daughter: Mary Beth Campion and her husband, William, of Altoona, PA. 5 grandchildren also survive.
Due to a predicted winter storm FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN CHANGED. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 at 12pm noon at St. Gregory the Great Church, Danbury. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4pm -7pm at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
