

Gustav F. Johnson, age 89 of Roxbury, formerly of Danbury and Norwalk died on Wednesday January 23rd at the Candlewood Valley Care Center, New Milford. He was the husband of the late Katherine (Wilson) Johnson. Gustav was born December 9, 1923 in Lewisboro, NY the son of the late Martin and Mary (Burns) Johnson. As a young man, he had lived in Norwalk where he attended local schools, and later he served in the U.S. Army with the 402nd Air Depot during WWII in the European Theatre of Operations. Gustav was employed as an electrician for many years, most recently alongside his son Martin at M. Johnson Electrical Contractors, until the time of his retirement. A resident of Danbury since 1965, Gustav most recently had resided in Roxbury, and enjoyed spending special times with his family.
Gustav is survived by his son Martin F. Johnson and his wife Jeanette of Roxbury with whom he had made his home, three grandsons: Jeremy, Kyle, and Darryl Johnson all of Roxbury, two sisters: Doris Peterson of Ringwood, NJ and Emily Richmond of Naples, FL, and several nieces and nephews. Gustav was predeceased by his brothers Martin Johnson Jr., and Alfred Johnson, and his sister Marion Cosmo.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday January 26th in the Green Funeral Home 57 Main Street Danbury at 9:00am. Burial with military honors will be in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. The family will receive friends at the Green Funeral Home on Friday January 25th from 5 thru 8pm.
