Henri B. Hillmann

Henri was born on December 13, 1942, in Jamaica Queens, NY, to the late Henri and Ilse Hillmann. He was the eldest of five children. He grew up in Brooklyn, NY and relocated to Hartsdale during his middle school years. He attended classes for Landscape Design at the New York Botanical Gardens, while working at Green Valley Nursery in Hawthorne, NY. He started Nature’s Way Landscape Service, in New Fairfield, CT, which he owned and operated for over 30 years. He was a lover of nature and all things plants. He married the love of his life, Eileen (Martin) Hillmann on June 26, 1971, and they raised three children, where they lived in New Fairfield, CT. Henri and Eileen enjoyed Summer Vacations in Cape Cod, MA and Fall Getaways to New Hampshire. They were also blessed to travel to Hawaii, Alaska, and several European countries. He was a lover of nature and all things plants; a trait he passed on to his sons. Henri could almost always be found in his garden or yard making sure it looked like something from Home and Gardens. He was so handy, with a wonderful eye for design and could build and repair anything. He was especially proud of all the special touches he put into making their house a home.

In addition to his wife of almost 55 years, Henri is survived by his children, Barbara Davis, Henri (HB) Jr. (Mariana) and Gregory (Shaela),13 grandchildren Maura, Bridget, Maggie, Ronan, Molly, Tyler, Fearghus, Patrick, Julia, Conor, Marin, Heidi and Luiza and siblings Dianna Salerno, Ronald Hillmann and Lisa Tracy (Jim) as well as many loving nephews and nieces, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Ricky.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 28 at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 21 Brush Hill Road, New Fairfield, CT at 11:00 AM. The family will receive guests at the church from 10:00-10:45.

Burial will be held at a later date in upstate NY.
