He is survived by his two sons, Karl (Nancy) of Torrington, CT and Gregory (Margaret) of Warner, NH and three grandchildren, Michael, Zachary, and Gretchen. He is also survived by his two adored sisters Jean Simpson and Marion Veith of NJ.
Herbert was the proud owner of the “Little Cake Box” in New Fairfield, for 41 years. He was also a past Volunteer Fire Company Chief for the town of New Fairfield and an avid bowler for the Fireman’s Bowling League.
Herbert served in the National Guard from 1948 to 1950 and the United States Marines during the Korean War, 1952 to 1954.
Calling hours are from 2 to 5pm on Sunday, Nov. 9 at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Edward the Confessor, 21 Brush Hill Rd., New Fairfield, CT on Nov. 10th at 10am.
