Irene G. Pawlinski

Irene was born in West Hazelton, PA to the late Joseph and Leona Wasilewski Gecewicz. A Danbury resident since 1960, she was previously of South Norwalk, CT. Irene had worked for Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford.

Irene was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Danbury. She was a past president of the Rosarian Guild at St. Joseph Church in South Norwalk and the Daniel Bissell Chapter #670 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Women’s Auxiliary.

A devoted grandmother and great grandmother, Irene enjoyed boating, traveling and family gatherings.

Survivors include her daughter: Bernadette “Bernie” P. Nelson and her husband, Gary, of Danbury. Her son: Stash Pawlinski of Naples, FL. Her brother: Leo Gecewicz and his wife, Gwen, of Hendersonville, NC.Her grandchildren: Christopher Marquard, Sr. and his wife, Lori; Cynthia Marks and her husband, Jack; Sean Nelson and his wife, Heather. 5 great grandchildren also survive.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1pm on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church, Danbury. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

Friends will be received from 11am-12:30pm on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
