He was born on January 5, 1936 in Waynesboro, Virginia. He was the son of Guy and Susie Pangle.
Jim graduated from Wilson Memorial High School in Waynesboro, VA. After high school Jim joined the Army, driving and operating tanks for six years as a Staff Sargent.
Jim was employed with Eagle Pencil/Berol and at the age of 24 was transferred to Danbury, CT. After Eagle Pencil/Berol Jim worked for Danbury Square Box and the Holson Company. He returned and retired from Danbury Square Box after 21 years.
Jim is survived by the love of his life Lucille J. Corvino Pangle, who he met while working at Berol. They were married for 59 years.
In addition to his wife Lucille, Jim is survived by his two children: Melinda J. (Pangle) McMahon and her husband Greg of New Milford, and Michael J. Pangle and his wife Michele of Southbury, four grandchildren: Sean McMahon and his wife Brittany of Brookfield, Blaine McMahon of New Milford, Mathew Pangle and Samantha Pangle, both of Southbury, along with other family members residing in Virginia.
Jim played a great deal of organized baseball and was a member of the Danbury Industrial League. Jim loved golf and was a member of the Richter Park Men’s Senior Golf Club for over 35 years. He had the good fortune of having three holes in one at Richter Park.
Jim was very outgoing and had a great sense of humor, and was famous for giving everyone a nickname. Jim was so proud of his grandchildren; he enjoyed and looked forward to attending their many sporting events, lacrosse, wrestling, soccer and hockey.
Family and friends may call, Monday, January 28, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT. A prayer service will follow in the funeral home at 7:00 pm.
