

He was an extremely hard worker with many talents. In Portugal, Joao was a farmer and a shoe repairman. When times got hard, he went to Switzerland and became a chef. Joao then moved on to France and became a Mason. On July 5th 1980, he moved his wife and children to Danbury. CT., to give them a better life, where he worked at Rapid Power Technologies, INC. as a Technician and retired in 2001.
His sense of humor and loving heart will be truly missed by his family and friends, who meant the world to him. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards with his son and visiting with friends at the house of Benifca Soccer Club, of Danbury CT. Most of all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Joao was born in the small town of Vilar De Perdizes, Portugal on August 2, 1939, to the late Francisco and Aurora (Dias) Andre. He is survived by two brothers and three sisters. He leaves behind his children, son Anibal Andre and wife Fernanda of Danbury CT, son Jacinto Andre and wife Kimberly of Danbury CT, daughter Ana Maria (Kermashek) and husband Joshua of Brookfield CT, daughter Justina Andre of Danbury CT, and son Ricardo Andre of Danbury CT. Besides his children he leaves behind nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and many family members and friends.
Friends may call at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St. Danbury, CT. on Monday from 4:00 – 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 149 Deer Hill Ave. Danbury, on Tuesday at 10am. followed by interment at St Peter Cemetery, Danbury, CT.
