John Francis MacDonald, 75, passed away Sunday August 11, 2019 at Danbury Hospital. John was born in Greenwich CT on November 2, 1943 on his mother’s birthday. He was the son of the late William and Mary (Dooley) MacDonald.
John was also predeceased by his sister Patricia (MacDonald) Hennessy. John lived in Glenville for much of his life.
John graduated from Saint Mary’s High School. He would often share his memories of his trip across the country in his Pontiac GTO following high school. When younger, John worked for the US Postal Service. An automobile accident left him paralyzed in his thirties, but he remained independent for over 20 years. He spent the past fifteen years in nursing home care.
The family would like to thank his two caregivers who over the years who made a difference in his life, Agnes and Millie.
John is survived by his nieces and their spouses: Kim (Hennessy) and Kevin Morgan, Colleen (Hennessy) and Rick Young, Kerri (Hennessy) and Gene Tompkins, and Jennifer (Hennessy) and Al Miano. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Neil Hennessy and his wife, Annie Hennessy; ten great nieces and nephews and many cousins throughout the US and Nova Scotia.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of John’s life from 6:00pm to 7:30pm on Friday, August 16, 2019 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT.
Burial will occur privately at a later date.
