

Joseph was born November 18, 1928 in Danbury, the son of the late Louis and Lena (Gillotti) Moffa. He attended local schools and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army and the Connecticut Nat’l Guard.
Joseph was employed by Gillotti’s Restaurant, a family run business until 1955, when he, along with his brothers Carmine and Louis opened Moffa’s Roadside on Mill Plain Road, Danbury. They continued to run the business until retiring in 1997. Joseph also was employed part time as a custodian in the Danbury School system.
Joseph was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church, Danbury, serving as an usher at the 9:30 Mass on Sunday mornings. He enjoyed travelling to casinos, as well as horse and dog races.
The Moffa family would like to extend their thanks to the 2nd floor staff of Danbury Healthcare Center, for the compassionate care extended to Joseph during his residency.
In addition to his loving wife Violanda of 46 years, Joseph is survived by his sons: Louis J. Moffa of Middletown and Joseph A. Moffa of Danbury, his daughter: Lena R. Duva and her husband Michael of Danbury, one beloved grandson: Troy Duva of Danbury, one sister: Concetta Adducci of Danbury, one brother: Louis Moffa and his wife Carlea of Northport, FL, and several nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by his brother Carmine Moffa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Wednesday June 15 at St. Gregory the Great Church, Danbury. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
The Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
