The world lost a beloved mother, Joyce (Bondatti) Gleissner (80) on Monday, February 28, 2022. Joyce passed away at Yale, New Haven Hospital with her loving sons by her side. She battled her illness with the most amazing grace, bravery and strength.
Joyce was born in Danbury, on Oct. 24, 1941. She was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1959. Joyce began her career as a hairdresser at Frank’s Beauty Salon in Danbury. She also worked at the American Heart Association and was a private caregiver for many years. Throughout her career, Joyce left a lasting impression on everyone she worked with.
From there she met the love of her life, her husband Ron and her two sons were born. Her greatest job was being a mother. Joyce was an active parent volunteer at St. Peters and Immaculate High School. She will be always remembered for the legendary pasta dinners that she hosted at her home for the entire football team. Joyce was a strong, kind, loving, and supportive mother. She was her family's biggest cheerleader in any activity that they were involved in. Joyce could be found on the sidelines or in the stands ringing her cowbell proudly.
She enjoyed spending summers in Montauk with her family and friends.
Joyce is survived by her son, Ron, his wife, Marnie; her son, Eric, his wife, Cheryl; her beloved grandchildren: Molly, Abigail, Chloe, Eric, and Matthew, as well as many extended family members and friends.
She was predeceased by Ron, her husband of 46 years; and her parents and Francis (Frank) and Freda (Buzaid) Bondatti.
Joyce will be desperately missed by all those that she’s left behind. Anyone who met Joyce knew that she was the most loving mother a family could ask for and the friend you could always count on. She accepted everyone into her family with open arms. Joyce was one of a kind.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Danbury on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 10:30 am.
The family would like to thank the oncology nursing staff at Yale, New Haven Hospital for their unwavering compassion and support.
