Ken leaves a legacy of loyalty and commitment, laying deep roots in all facets of his life. His storybook romance with his high school sweetheart spanned 67 wonderful years and laid the foundation for a sturdy and flourishing family tree. He called Danbury home for all 96 of his years and resided in the same house (which he masterfully built) for his final 8 decades. He spent his nearly 50-year career in the service of one company: Preferred Utilities in Danbury. And almost every summer for 60-plus years, Ken could be found at his quaint, rustic cottage in Cape Cod “enjoying the lazy days of summer.”
His pattern of steadfast commitment extended to his country. He quietly assumed the mantle of duty required of the Greatest Generation, proudly donning a naval uniform during World War II. He epitomized bravery, strength, and responsibility.
Ken’s stoic exterior of folded arms and economic word choice belied his true gentle core. He held tremendous affection for his family and doted on his children and grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to show up for the people he loved. In turn, everyone adored Ken and took full advantage of his open-porch-door policy.
Ken also gifted loved ones with his manifold skills and talents. His culinary prowess shone at every holiday feast, with his signature lasagna as the centerpiece. His knack for gardening enabled him to generously dole out delicious fruits and vegetables. Finally, his skilled hands adeptly turned any block of wood into a work of art cherished by recipients.
Family and friends will remember Ken for his generosity, no-nonsense wisdom, quotable yet inimitable style, and love of life’s simple pleasures: spending time with family, golfing, fishing, and reclining. His empty chair marks a forever hole in our hearts. But as we mourn the loss of this long-standing patriarch, we take solace in the enduring legacy he etched into the fabric of the family’s history.
The family expresses sincere gratitude to Sylvester Adjei for his tireless and compassionate caregiving toward the end of Ken’s life.
