

Leonard (Lenny) Joseph Rogers, Sr., 74, passed away peacefully, surrounded by all those who loved him deeply, on the 26th of June 2013. Lenny, a.k.a. “The Bruiser”, was born on the 18th of August, 1938 in Danbury, Connecticut. He graduated from Danbury High School and served in the U.S. Navy. For more than 30 years, Lenny worked for Perkin-Elmer and SVG as an optical coating supervisor. One of the most significant projects he worked on was the optical telescope assembly of the Edwin P. Hubble Space Telescope. After retirement, Lenny moved to Morristown, New Jersey to be closer to his children and grandchildren. Lenny’s hobbies included watching NASCAR, playing golf and spending time with loved ones.Lenny is predeceased by his parents, Christina Holmes Rogers and Leonard McDuff Rogers, his twin brother Larry and his sister Joan. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patty Kouche Rogers, and his brothers Ed and Jack, both of Danbury, Connecticut. Lenny was the very proud father of Leonard Joseph Rogers, Jr. and Laurie Rogers Doyle and grandfather of Michael Rogers, Daniel Rogers, Brian Rogers, Samantha Doyle and Megan Doyle. He is also survived by many other loving nieces, nephews and countless friends.The family will receive friends on Monday, July 1, 2013 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, CT 06810. Funeral mass will be held at Saint Joseph Church on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 followed by a graveside service at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
