Len was born in Philadelphia in 1944 to John and Margaret (Landwehr) Russell. He was a graduate of Dobbins Technical High School in Philadelphia and attended Temple University.
He was married to his wife Gail (Roberts) Russell for 59 years.
Len served his country as a US Army Intelligence officer during the Vietnam era and was a 30-year employee of IBM. Following his retirement, he became a licensed big game hunting guide in Idaho, ran his own estate sale business in Fairfield County, CT, and volunteered on the board of directors of the HART Transportation Company in Danbury. He served the Lord throughout his life in a variety of local churches as a Bible teacher and leader.
In addition to his devotion to God and his family, Len found peace and joy in the outdoors where he communed with God and praised Him for the magnificence of His creation. He was an avid hunter in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Wyoming, and Idaho.
Sharing the legacy of his love are his wife Gail, daughters Beth Gorab and Sara McChesney, grandchildren Casey Gorab, Ryan Gorab, and Marley McChesney, brother John Russell (Carol), sister Margaret Russell, and nephews John Russell, III, David Russell, and niece Susan Russell. Len often reminded those he knew to “Make room in your life for God.”
