Lydia E. Nieves

She was the daughter of Evaristo and Edelmira (Roman) Nieves. Lydia moved to New York at the age of 4.

Lydia is survived by her beloved 4 children: Lynnette Nieves of Elizabeth, NJ, Nancy Nieves and her husband Christopher Hebert of Brookfield, CT, David Nieves and his wife Nancy of New Bedford, MA, and Angel Nieves and his wife Jessica Medina of Bethel, CT as well as her siblings Maria L. Nichols, Evelyn Nieves and Luis Nieves.

She is also survived by 18 grandchildren: Angelique, Stephanie, Michael, Giovanni, David, Gianna, Lyanne, Bryan, AJ, Caitlyn, Christian, Natasha, Dylan, Angel, Hailey, Tristan, Alexis and Makayla and 3 great-grandchildren: Avalyese, Gabriel and Avery, and many nieces and nephews. Jorge, Jacob, Brandon, Tyler, Collin, Jaiden, Isaiah and Scarlett were her "adopted" and step-grandchildren, loved as much by her as she by them.

Lydia was predeceased by her parents and her sisters Diana Cobb and Maria I. Nieves.

Her family was her greatest joy and her love for them was boundless. She will be missed tremendously.

The family wishes to thank her caregiver for the last 7 plus years, Wanda Montes and her husband Samuel Da Silva and their daughter Shania Lopez Montes.

Lydia's wishes were to be cremated. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday January 18, 2025 at 1:00PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 16 Saw Mill Rd. Newtown CT 06470.
