

Manuel was born in Sao Romão Portugal to Fernando Martins Saraiva and Maria Celeste Garcia on November 16, 1957. He went to school in Sao Romão, Portugal and he married Ana Maria Pereira on July 29, 1978. He worked for a fabric factory in Portugal for about 15 years.
Manuel moved to the United States with his wife and children in 1987. Here he became a carpenter, later co-owned Villa Maria pizzeria in New Milford before returning to his passion which was carpentry.
He built his home in Bethel from the exterior to the interior finish work. He was a perfectionist and it showed. He was in a pool league and loved watching Sporting play soccer. He was loved by many and passed peacefully surrounded by love of his family who were the dearest to him.
Manuel Garcia Saraiva is preceded in death by his parents Fernando Martins Saraiva and Maria Celeste Garcia, and his brother, Jose Rui Garcia Saraiva.
Manuel Garcia Saraiva is survived by his wife Ana Maria, his children Lara (Paul) Sequeira and Ricardo (Maria Susana) Saraiva, as well as his brother Antonio Garcia (Lurdes) Saraiva; his sisters Conceição (Julio) Ferreira, Maria Gorete (Jose Luis) Fernandes, Gina Maria (Fernando) Cruz, Maria Cremilde (Antonio) Rodrigues, and Maria Helena Saraiva.
Five grandchildren: Aliyah and Evan Sequeira, Michelle, Andrew Saraiva (girlfriend Chloe Tollar) will cherish their grandfather's memory. Manuel's nieces, nephews and godchildren are here in the United States and in Portugal.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 10 AM at St. Joseph Parish in Danbury.
