Mary M. Higgenbottom

Mary M. Higgenbottom, age 89, of Danbury, Connecticut passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. She was born in Chateaugay, New York on June 21, 1932, to the late Henry King and Bertha (Decker) Martin. Mary was a member of the half-century class of Chateaugay High School graduating in 1950, where she lettered in cheerleading.

Mary relocated to Connecticut in the late 1950s to raise her family. She had a longtime career in relocation accounting at Cartus in Danbury, retiring in 1997. Her early retirement years were spent caring for her great-grandchildren and traveling the world.

She had a passion for helping others and spent countless hours volunteering at Danbury Hospital, City Hall, and assisting others in the community. She was a devoted New York Yankees fan who always looked forward to having witty banter over last night's game.

Mary will be dearly missed by her children: Charles Higgenbottom; Joseph Higgenbottom and Tracy (Daniel) Bozek. Her greatest joy was her beloved grandchildren: Amanda (Osvaldo) Melendez; Nicole (Christopher) Hanson; Daniel (Dechristine) Bozek and Kevin Higgenbottom, as well as her cherished great-grandchildren: Tyller Thongkham; Peyton and James Hanson; Aiden, Lily, and Dean Bozek. In addition, Mary is survived by her sister Shirley Northrop. She was predeceased by her three brothers: William King, Francis Martin, and William Martin.

Calling hours for Mary will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St, Danbury, CT, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM.
