Mary Barabas Vitale died peacefully in her home on October 4th, 2018 at the age of 90. She was born August 17th 1928 in McKeesport PA to Andrew and Theresa (Karanich) Barabas. She was raised on a farm with her siblings Andrew, John, Steve, Paul, Joseph, Elizabeth, Barbara, Theresa, and Juliann who all preceded her in death.
Her first job was within the family business as a secretary at Castro Convertible. She met Alfred Vitale on a blind date and married in 1959. They welcomed a daughter Maria (Mia) in 1966. They travelled from Pittsford New York to Northbrook Illinois, then finally settling in Fort Lauderdale Florida in 1971. Mary's husband was the Chief Financial Officer for STP. They moved from Fort Lauderdale to Jupiter Florida in 1987.
Mary was an avid golfer, winning multiple club championships in both Illinois and Florida. Mary was a devoted Roman Catholic and a current member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Jupiter. Mary lost her husband of 53 years in 2012. She was a loving grandmother of 2 - Brian (20) and Kristin (16).
She will be laid to rest in a private committal service to take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Danbury, Connecticut. Funeral services will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church, Jupiter, Florida.
