Mike attended Danbury High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 19, and faithfully served 2 years (1980 – 1982) in the US and abroad. Mike and Pattie married in March of 1984, and they soon after started their family in Danbury.
Mike worked for many years with some of his closest friends at Kent Floors, in Danbury. Mike is a hero in all our hearts, both while he was with us and after his passing. He was a devoted husband and father, a supportive and steadfast brother, and a true friend to all who knew him. He never wanted to be praised for his heroism when he rescued a pilot after a plane crashed in his neighborhood. Mike saw the plane coming down and immediately ran to the scene. He helped one of the passengers down the stairs and went back to help in any way he could. In the newspaper article he was quoted as saying: “Just as I got to the bottom of the stairs, the plane exploded, and I saw the pilot jump down. He was on fire and rolled in the snow.”
Mike loved his family, his friends and life. He loved to laugh, joke, read and was a lover of history, and the NY Giants and Mets. He was known by many names throughout his life. Most popular were Ogre, Burgeroni, Rooster, Burger-Meister.
There will be a Memorial Gathering for Mike on Friday, December 13, 2019 from 4-7 PM at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street in Danbury.
