Muriel Jennings Morris was born in Swansea, South Wales, Great Britain to Phillip William Jennings and Louisa Spottiswood Jennings on October 1, 1926. She went to school in Swansea, and as a young woman moved to London with her family and continued her education.
Muriel and Raymond Collett Morris met at a dance hall during World War II, while bombs were dropping around them. At the young age of 20, Muriel married Raymond, on April 26, 1947, in Willesden London, Great Britain.
In April of 1948, their eldest daughter, Julie Anne was born. A year later in 1949, Muriel and Raymond came to America with Raymond’s family. When her youngest daughter April was in junior high school she started working as an assembler for Benrus Watch Company of Ridgefield, and continued working there for 10 years.
Muriel has always loved music. She had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed ballroom dancing with her beloved husband, Raymond. Muriel loved the beach and the sound of the ocean waves. She was the most amazing and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Muriel was better known
as “Nana”, once her first grandchild was born in 1979. “Nana” was her most cherished role in life. There wasn’t anything Muriel wouldn’t do for her grandchildren. They were her greatest pride. She was happiest when surrounded by her family and was absolutely adored by them all.
Muriel Jennings Morris is preceded in death by, her parents, Phillip William Jennings and Louisa Spottiswood Jennings. Her brother John P. Jennings, sister Inez Jennings Crate, and 3 other infant siblings, all of Great Britain. Also, preceding her in death was her infant son Raymond Phillip Morris, and adult daughter Julie Anne Morris.
Muriel is survived by her husband of 73 years, Raymond Collett Morris, of Danbury. Her daughter, April Morris Radlet and husband Peter L. Radlet, of Danbury. Granddaughters, Vanessa Susan Radlet of Danbury, Ashley Radlet Sterling and husband Christopher Sterling of Massachusetts, She is also survived by 5 great grandchildren whom she lived for, Kailan Peter O’Dell, Abigail Julieanne O’Dell,
Madeline Susan O’Dell, Tatem Collett O’Dell and Finlay Ian Sterling.
Due to the current pandemic, services will be closed to immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Shriners or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital
