
Raymond H. Varian, 74, of The Villages, FL, passed from this life Thursday, January 10, 2013. Born in Danbury, son of the late Frank and Louise (Fournier) Varian. Family was a great part of his life and raising his children on Varian Drive in his hometown, created a special bond with his parents, aunts, uncles, brother, nephews and nieces. Raymond was a design engineer for Heli-Coil of Danbury and retired after many years of service. During his career he was awarded several patents for his designs. Raymond enjoyed music and was a talented musician. He played piano, organ, keyboard, accordion and banjo. A talented artist, his favorite medium was acrylics and landscape scenes. He was a model train enthusiast and maintained a HO train set at home. He was a life member of the Danbury Railroad Museum. He and his wife Veronica moved to The Villages from Danbury, in 2008. He made many friends in The Villages and was part of the “Matisse-Niks Neighborhood Group that enjoyed playing cards, golf and happy hour together.
He leaves his wife of (52) years, Veronica “Roni” (Sylvia) Varian, his daughters, Veronica L. Tyrell of Danbury, CT, Doreen V. Sa and husband Peter of Bartlett, IL, a brother, Francis “Skip” Varian and wife Barbara of GA, (3) grandchildren, Robert Tyrell, Brendan Tyrell and Ginette Sa, sisters-in-law Beverly Wilson and Florence Chamoures and her husband Tim. He also leaves many very special nephews and nieces and a cousin who was like a sister.
Funeral services will be held at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. friends may call at Green Funeral Home on Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Wooster Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in The Villages, FL.
