
Born in Danbury, he was a son of the late Eva Barton Maggersuppe and step-son of the late Henry Maggersuppe. He attended Danbury schools and served with the US Army during WWII. Bob was with an AAA Unit (Anti-Aircraft Artillery Unit) in the European Theater of War; he served in Normandy during the D-Day Plus 4 landing.
A 26 year employee with Risdon Corporation in Danbury, Bob was most recently with the Redding School System until his retirement.
Besides his wife and parents, Bob was predeceased by his siblings: Harold, Walter, Donald, Kenneth and Martha.
Survivors include his son: Robert W. Barton and his wife, Florence, of Vermont. His daughters: Barbara Obringer of Danbury; Nancy Hayes and her husband, David, of Brookfield; and Joan Grilley of Vermont. 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Monday, July 27, 2015 at St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. Friends will be received from 8:30am to 9:30am on Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
