A 1962 graduate of Danbury High School, Roger then entered the service. He served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge, he returned to Danbury and took a job with Eagle Pencil. Roger was a politician, a staunch Republican who, under former Mayor Boughton, ran for Common Council President and served during his term. He fought hard for things he believed in and was a respected figure in Danbury politics.
Roger was a coach for many years and every team he coached excelled and triumphed. For over twenty years he coached Babe Ruth Baseball and several of his teams won state championships. He also brought Immaculate High School Girls Soccer to their first state championship in 1995. He was a firm, tough and revered coach and he treasured his time coaching.
Roger married Sharon Ann Bastos on Nov. 26, 1966. He raised a family and built a life here in Danbury. He was predeceased by his wife, who passed in 2001.
