Mrs. Sarah Pearl (Neal) Baskin entered into eternal rest early Friday morning, August 5, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Sarah was the daughter of the late Rev. Arthur C. Neal and Lelabelle (Wright) Neal. Sarah was born July 16, 1942 in Thomson, GA and was educated in the Thomson school systems. Sarah relocated to Danbury, CT in 1962 and worked several jobs until she landed permanently at General DataComm for many years until her retirement in 2004.
The daughter of a Reverend and growing up in the church, Sarah gave her life to Christ at an early age. Sarah loved church and had a strong belief in her God, she was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church which she made her church home many years ago and in their Senior Choir. She was very spiritual and she accepted everyone for who they are and never judged a soul. She loved dearly and was loved dearly and would do whatever she could to help anyone.
Sarah affectionately known as “Mother, Ma, Mama, Gram, The Lady, Gram-Gram and Sister Sarah” was an awesome cook, everyone loved her cooking, she loved cooking and baking (trying new recipes), doing her crossword puzzles, reading her Star magazine, watching her favorite TV shows (The Price Is Right, Jeopardy, Wheel Of Fortune, The Young And The Restless and Supermarket Sweep) and listening to her “Blues”, B.B. King was her absolute favorite.
What Sarah really enjoyed was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and talking to them on the phone. Her family was her everything and each and every one of them knew this. Just as much as she loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they all loved her even more.
Sarah leaves to cherish her fond, unforgettable memories, two brothers, Henry (Estelle) Neal and Milton (Esther) Neal both of Thomson, GA; one sister, Agnes Baker of Kent, CT; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Neal of Bronx, NY; her son; Shelton (Kim) Baskin of Danbury, CT; three daughters, Sherry Baskin-Bush of Danbury, CT, Stacey Harris of Atlanta, GA and Stefanie Clinton of Philadelphia, PA; and one special nephew; Randall Baker of Danbury, CT. Ten grandchildren; Tiffany Harris, Tarra Harris, ShéLynn Council, Desiree Baskin, Sarah Harris, Gregory Harris, Shanonn Bush, Moses Akinwunmi, Shelton Baskin and Allen Clinton III; two bonus granddaughters; Miranda Rockwell and Savanna Rockwell. Five great-grandchildren; Sarah Akinwunmi, William Harris, Maleeah Akinwunmi, Coreem Akinwunmi and Aris Miller. Also left to cherish fond and unforgettable memories are a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Sarah was predeceased by seven brothers, Willie E. Neal, Arthur C. Neal, Lamar Neal, Thomas A. Shockley, Robert Shockley, James Shockley and Joseph Neal; five sisters, Lorine Neal, Virginia Neal, Carrie Moore, Dorothy Shockley, Eleanor Shockley and a special nephew Bruce Baker.

A funeral service for Sarah will be held Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM at New Hope Baptist Church, 12 Dr. Aaron B. Samuels Blvd., Danbury, CT. Following the funeral service burial will take place at Wooster Cemetery, 20 Ellsworth Ave., Danbury, CT.
