Stephen was a resident of Danbury, Connecticut.
Born on April 13, 1967, in New Fairfield, Stephen moved to Danbury in 1993 when he and his future wife, LeAnn, bought their home. He built strong connections within his community and among those who knew him. He possessed a remarkable talent for fixing just about anything—a skill that reflected both his curiosity and his patience. From household appliances to complex mechanical challenges, Stephen approached each task with precision and care. This skill transferred over to creating a company with David Kilcourse; Specialty Installation Services. This company has flourished since its inception in 2005.
Outside of work and his love for tinkering, Stephen found great joy on the golf course. Golf was more than a hobby; it was a passion that brought him peace and camaraderie. In recent years, he also embraced video games with enthusiasm, welcoming new technology as another avenue for exploration and enjoyment.
Stephen’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, LeAnn; their children: Teri Davis; Ashley Skahen and her partner Justin Emond; Patrick Skahen; Erin Skahen; and Connor Skahen. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Salomae, Elijah, Matthew, Castiel, and Lilith.
He is also survived by his mother, Carolyn Skahen; his sisters Jean Hirschauer and her husband Larry Hirschauer, Anne Neville, and Christine Saraceno; his nieces Katie Unger and her husband Michael Unger, Jillian Hirschauer, and Olivia Skahen also mourn his passing. He also leaves behind his Aunt Sheila and Uncle Ken, Aunt Beverly and Aunt Nancy and many cousins.
Stephen was predeceased by his father, Don Skahen.
A wake will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT.
May Stephen’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire the love of family, curiosity of mind, and quiet strength that defined his life.
