

Bill was born February 3,1948 in Rapid City, South Dakota, he resided with his wife Kathleen Regina (Morgan) Ehli in Danbury CT. William graduated from Rapid City High School in 1968, thereafter joining the United States Army, serving a year in Vietnam and completing the rest of his service stateside until March of 1976.
Bill worked as a land surveyor for Surveying Associates, in Danbury, for 43 years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1672 where he was part of the color guard for over 30 years. His hobbies included traveling, hunting, wood turning, hiking and camping. Camping led him to his unexpected passion which was Scouting. William joined the Boy Scouts of America in 1993 when his son joined Troop 9 of Danbury. He was involved for 15 years, several of which he served as Scout Master.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Kathleen; his three children Jennifer Ann (David) Cioffi, Elizabeth Lee (Joseph) Hudson and John Joseph (Coleen) Ehli. He also leaves behind his sister Linda M (James) Hayward as well as nine grandchildren; Julie Ehli, Amber Ehli, Daniel Miller, Anthony Hudson, Conner Miller, Leeann Hudson, Angel Ehli, John “Jr” Ehli, and Walker Ehli. He is also survived by his aunt Caroline (Ehli) Rioux and many cousins. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wendline J and Velma Anges (Smith) Ehli and his brother Lee A. Ehli.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Scouting America or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
The family will receive friends at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Monday, July 28, 2025 from 4-7pm.
Interment will take place privately and at the convenience of the family.
