

William Stanley “Stan” Gardner, passed away on Monday June 18th at Danbury Hospital. He was 89 years old. Stan was born in Danbury Hospital on January 9, 1923 and was brought home to New Fairfield in a Motel T Ford with side curtains. He was a life long resident of New Fairfield and resided with his wife Aileen in the home he built for them in 1950.
Stan was the son of Harry Gardner and Wilemina Mosher, and was married to his belove wife, Aileen Pulver, for 59 years. He is survived by his daughter Gail Baxter and her husband Mark , his son Steven and his wife Lisa, and three grandchildren; Gregory Baxter, Kyle and Miya Gardner, and nephews James and Robert Gardner.
He was a graduate of Danbury Trade School (now Henry Abbott Technical School), and worked as a building contractor/master carpenter for 70 years. Stan was a veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Army as a Combat Engineer. He served on many building commities in New Fairfield, including the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard, the New Fairfield Public Library, the Company “A” Firehouse, and many of the schools. He was a member of the New Fairfield Veterans Association, the New Fairfield Historical Society, the Quarter Master of the New Fairfield Sparklers Drum Corps and a former member of the Union Savings Bank Board of Trustees. Most recentley he worked for the Union Savings Bank as a Construction Inspector. Stan loved his family and friends, many types of auto racing, his Corvette and his town.
The family will receive friends at the Green Funeral home at 57 Main Streeet in Danbury, CT from 5 to 8 pm on Thursday June 21st. A funeral service will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard at 2 Colonial Road New Fairfield, CT on Friday June 22nd at 11:00 am, Interment Mountainview Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Company “A” Firehouse in New Fairfield.
