William G. Reiss

William G. Reiss, died on April 18, 2016, after a courageous fight against lung cancer. He was born on October 27, 1949, in Bronx, New York. He was predeceased by his parents George L. Reiss and Barbara Walther Reiss, his sister Barbara Varian and her husband Skip. Bill leaves behind a loving family: his wife Patricia Reiss of Danbury, his son Chris Reiss and his wife Denise of New Milford and his daughter Lisa Reiss also of New Milford. His surviving siblings are Ellen Blom and her husband Andy of Danbury and George L. Reiss, Jr. and his wife Barbara also of Danbury. Bill also leaves three stepchildren; Claire Rentz and her husband Allan of Bethel, Robb Balogh of Pittsfield, MA and Anne-Marie Balogh of New York City. Bill’s grandchildren were the love of his life. They include Christopher, MaKayla and Peyton Reiss of New Milford and Alex Miloscia and Michael Rentz of Bethel. In 1968, Bill graduated from Henry Abbott Technical School as a carpenter. He joined the Air Force and served for four years. With the help of his family and friends he built the house in which he raised his children. He worked as a carpenter until he took a position at Shephards, in Bethel. He then spent over twenty years working for Union Savings Bank as a maintenance specialist. It was known that if something was broken Bill could most likely fix it. Calling hours will be on Thursday April 21st from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter Church, on Friday, April 22nd at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
