Diane (Souza) Dupont, 64, of Dartmouth, passed away Friday, April 9, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Richard Dupont with whom she shared 39 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Manuel and Pearl (Sylvia) Souza, she was a lifelong resident of Dartmouth.
She was a graduate of Dartmouth High School, class of 1964 and a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church.
Diane was employed as a records room clerk for the Dartmouth Police Department for the past 15 years.
She was very involved in her community and actively volunteered for many events including Relay for Life and the Dartmouth Police Athletic League and Relief Association. Diane was an avid Red Sox fan who enjoyed trips to Foxwoods, Atlantic City and Las Vegas. She also enjoyed going to car shows with her husband.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Kevin Dupont and Brian Dupont of Dartmouth; two sisters, Rosalie Sylvia and husband Robert of Dartmouth and Priscilla Maurice and husband Ronald of Plymouth; her twin brother, Daniel Souza of Plymouth; four sisters-in-law, Geraldine Souza, Dellene Dupont, Doris Swales and Diane Barboza; a brother-in-law, Donald Dupont; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Robert Souza.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 9am from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a funeral mass at 10am in St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth.
